Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray has officially been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers with a toe injury.

Reports early in the week indicated Murray was considered doubtful, but the Raiders were seemingly holding out hope that he’d make enough progress to suit up.

After missing a third consecutive practice Friday, it became clear that Murray would need at least a week on the sidelines before getting back in the lineup.

Rookies DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard, who each showed well in their rotational opportunities over the first four games, can be expected to share the backfield workload in Murray’s absence.

Murray leads the team with 172 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries through the first month of the season. Washington has taken his 23 attempts for 147 yards, while Richard has turned his 17 carries into 144 yards and a score.
