The 2016 World Series matchup is set.
With the Chicago Cubs advancing past the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games Saturday at Wrigley Field, the North Siders are set for a clash with the Cleveland Indians in the 112th edition of the Fall Classic.
Game 1 is set for Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Progressive Field.
It marks the first time these two long-suffering franchises will ever meet in the World Series, and Game 1 will mark just the 19th time the two sides will ever play one another.
It’s the sixth World Series appearance for the Indians and first since 1997. It’s the Cubs’ first trip to the World Series since 1945 and 12th in franchise history.
With the American League winning the All-Star Game in San Diego, the Indians will have home-field advantage despite the Cubs finishing the regular season with nine more wins.
