Every Monday during the season, theScore’s Justin Boone runs down the recommended waiver-wire pickups.

Roster percentages are based on Yahoo leagues. Free Agent Budget (FAB) amounts are based on a $100 salary cap. Only players rostered in less than 50% of leagues are considered.

C.J. Stroud, Texans

Next Up Rostered FAB
vs. PIT 20% $1

Stroud’s fantasy production has been solid over the last two weeks. He’s taken advantage of easier matchups, throwing for 664 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for another 15 yards.

More importantly, the first-round rookie looks comfortable and willing to push the ball downfield.

The Steelers’ defense will present a tougher test, but you’re not adding Stroud just to be a one-week streamer. The 21-year-old’s promising start makes him worthy of rostering to see if he can continue to build off it.

Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson are just above the 50% rostered mark, but they should be considered as streamers this week if available.

Risky streaming options: Sam Howell at PHI (21% rostered), Jameis Winston vs. TB (0% rostered), Ryan Tannehill vs. CIN (7% rostered), Baker Mayfield at NO (22% rostered), Kenny Pickett at HOU (27% rostered)

Risky streaming options (if starter is out): Andy Dalton vs. MIN (2% rostered), Gardner Minshew vs. LAR (2% rostered)

De’Von Achane, Dolphins

Next Up Rostered FAB
at BUF 41% $100

It took Jeff Wilson being placed on injured reserve and Salvon Ahmed suffering a groin injury before De’Von Achane got a real chance to prove himself.

But he made up for lost time by running for 203 yards and catching four passes for another 30 yards in a dominant 70-20 victory over the Broncos. He also found the end zone four times. Not to be outdone, starter Raheem Mostert posted 142 yards from scrimmage, seven receptions, and four touchdowns of his own.

The two lightning-quick backs are perfect for Mike McDaniel’s scheme. They’ll continue to terrorize defenses, making both players fantasy RB2s with week-winning upside. And if the 31-year-old Mostert’s durability issues resurface, Achane could blaze a path right to your fantasy championships.

Matt Breida, Giants

Next Up Rostered FAB
vs. SEA 30% $7

While some reports suggest Saquon Barkley could return in Week 4, it’s unlikely due to his high ankle sprain.

Most injury analysts believe he could miss a couple more weeks, which leaves Breida as the starter until he returns.

Breida was fortunate to score a touchdown against a tough 49ers defense last week, especially since he only had seven touches. The good news is that he played 82% of the Giants’ snaps in that contest and gets a much better matchup this week.

You can consider Breida an upside RB3/flex versus the Seahawks.

Jaylen Warren, Zach Charbonnet, and Roschon Johnson are close to or above the 50% rostered mark but should be rostered in most leagues.

High-upside backups like Tyjae Spears (24% rostered), Elijah Mitchell (39% rostered), Kendre Miller (34% rostered), Tank Bigsby (29% rostered), Sean Tucker (3% rostered), and Rico Dowdle (3% rostered) should be rostered in most leagues.

Tank Dell, Texans

Next Up Rostered FAB
vs. PIT 31% $49

Dell followed up his breakout 7-72-0 stat line in Week 2 with a 5-142-1 performance over the weekend. He now appears poised to handle a significant role in the Texans’ offense moving forward.

The rookie’s 17 targets over the last two weeks lead the team and carry even more value now that C.J. Stroud is emerging as a quality young quarterback.

Whether Dell can hold up at his size has yet to be determined, but he can be started in fantasy as an upside WR3.

Josh Palmer/Quentin Johnston, Chargers

Next Up Rostered FAB
vs. LV 2%/32% $29/$19

With Mike Williams ruled out for the year due to a torn ACL, the Chargers will be desperate for someone to step up alongside Keenan Allen.

Palmer appears most likely to take on a bigger target share based on what we’ve seen over the last two seasons. The 24-year-old has a strong history of production when called upon, averaging six receptions and 70 yards per game in the eight contests where he played over 80% of the snaps in 2022. He’s also been playing ahead of Johnston in the opening weeks.

Johnston offers a higher ceiling if he can take over Williams’ spot, but the first-round pick hasn’t yet shown he’s deserving of more playing time.

Fantasy managers should approach Palmer as an immediate WR3/flex, with Johnston being a stash with breakout potential if he can earn a full-time role.

Tight ends

Luke Musgrave, Packers

Next Up Rostered FAB
vs. DET 18% $5

Musgrave hasn’t had a massive performance yet, but he could’ve had much bigger fantasy days if Jordan Love had been able to connect with him downfield.

The rookie’s lack of touchdowns so far is the only thing holding his fantasy numbers down. He ranked seventh in yards and ninth in receptions at his position.

The breakout is coming, and it might happen this Thursday against a Lions defense that’s one of the top-five easiest matchups for tight ends.
