As Juan Soto was stepping into the batter’s box for his sixth-inning plate appearance – and third of the night – the Washington Nationals phenom was promptly tossed from the game by home-plate umpire Greg Gibson.

For context, the 19-year-old Soto had been rung up in the previous at-bat on a borderline 3-2 pitch, which he argued at the time as well.

Michael A. Taylor was announced as Soto’s replacement shortly after, while Nationals hitting coach Kevin Long was also ejected by Gibson for continuing to argue.
