Jefferson Montero moved a step closer to featuring in his first match of 2017 for Swansea City after overcoming a hamstring problem and returning to full training Monday, the Premier League side announced.

The Ecuador international managed to train with his teammates for the first time since going down with the injury during Swansea’s Boxing Day loss to West Ham.

However, the club did not reveal Montero’s status for Saturday’s match, where Paul Clement’s men will look to rebound from last weekend’s loss to leaders Chelsea when they host Burnley at the Liberty Stadium.

Before going down with the knock, Montero was resigned to a role on the bench after making just two starts and appearing in nine matches as a substitute.

Since his arrival shortly after the new year, Clement has guided the Swans to three victories in six matches to help lift the Welsh side out of relegation territory.
