The Buffalo Bills are working to retain veteran linebacker Lorenzo Alexander ahead of free agency, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Alexander enjoyed a late-career breakout after joining the Bills last season, stepping into a pass-rush role and recording an astonishing 12.5 sacks.

While the 33-year-old may not find a lucrative market for his services, he seems to have earned another look in that role after spending the majority of his career on special teams.

If re-signed, Alexenader would slot in behind the likes of Jerry Hughes and 2016 first-round pick Shaq Lawson as a rotational edge-rusher.

Alexander is scheduled to hit the free-agent market at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday.
